Downloading FAQ's, problem with internet browsers, and download times.

The following is a guidline only for file size and download time as speed depends on service:

File Size: 10MB

Time to download:

• 28.8kbps @ 52m 5s (00:52:05)
• 56 kbps @ 23m 15s (00:23:15)
• 128K ISDN @ 10m 10s (00:10:10)
• 640K DSL/Cable @ 2m 5s (00:02:05)
• T1/DS1, 1.5M DSL/Cable @ 52s (00:00:52)
• T2/DS2, 6.0M DSL/Cable @ 13s (00:00:13)
• T3/DS3, 44.7M @ 1s (00:00:01)

Following the release of Microsoft's Windows XP Service Pack 2 (XP SP2) in September 2004, Internet Explorer now includes an additional setting to protect users from various threats, such as worms, viruses, potentially harmful scripts and malware. This settings enables/disables the automatic download prompt.

When downloading products from the FileMaker Services, products are automatically downloaded from the first available mirror. A popup prompts the user to save or open the file. However, the new updates included in Internet Explorer prevent the popup, and an information bar (located at the top of the webpage) is displayed to the user. To continue to download the file, click on the information bar and select "Download File..." from the popup menu. See the image below (Fig: 1.2 Manual Download File) for detail:

This method will allow you to download files manually each time. If this becomes an inconvenience, see the alternative methods below for permantently disabling this information bar prompt. Review each option and choose the method that best fits your needs.

Follow the stops below to add FileMaker Services to your current list of Trusted sites which will disable the information bar prompt:

• Open Internet Explorer
• Click on the "Tools" menu
• Click on "Internet Options".
• This opens a new window. See image (Fig: 1.3 Internet Options) for detail

• In the new "Internet Options" window
• Click the "Security" tab. See image (Fig: 1.4 Security Options) for detail

• Select the "Trusted sites" icon.
• Click on the "Sites..." button to open the "Trusted sites" window

• Enter "*.filemakerservices.com" into the text box (as shown in the image (Fig: 1.5 Trusted sites))
• Click "OK"
• Click "OK" (to close "Internet Options")

This option will allow auto downloads on all websites whether they are trusted or untrusted:

• Open Internet Explorer
• Click on the "Tools" menu
• Click on "Internet Options".
• This opens a new window. See image (Fig: 2.0 Internet Options) for detail

• In the new "Internet Options" window
• Click the "Security" tab. See image (Fig: 2.1 Internet Options) for detail

• Select the "Internet" icon.
• Click on the "Custom Level..." button to open the "Security Settings" window

• Scroll down the list until you reach "Automatic prompting for file downloads" (as shown in the image (Fig: 2.2 Security Settings))
• Click "Enable"
• Click "OK" (to close "Internet Options")
