What our customer have to say:
Craft ICT Ltd, have been professional FileMaker developers for many years, are a member of the FileMaker Business Alliance and had a customer requirement for a graphical environment for resource planning and Scheduling.
Our customer, Doves Clothing from Earl Soham in Suffolk, specialise in printing and embroidering promotional clothing and textiles. Due to the quick turnaround service offered by Doves, it was essential that the system developed remained robust and quick.
Doves' orders now move from quotation stage, to order, to scheduled jobs allocated to machines on the factory floor via a few clicks of a mouse. Order and job data can be viewed in Scheduler and FileMaker simultaneously if required, with the current trend towards affordable wide format displays providing further productivity gains in the planning process.
The system is run primarily on a Windows 2003 Server and Windows XP PCs, but has also run natively on Mac OS X Server and Macs running Mac OS X, Parallels/VMware Fusion and Windows XP/Vista.
We have been delighted with the close teamwork and support offered by Computech, both in holding our hands during the initial integration stage and during the subsequent extensive customisation work that evolved as the possibilities that Scheduler offered were identified and applied to the unique requirements of Doves' production process.
It is our intention to continue to use Scheduler as one of our standard development tools in future projects”.
Andy Fox, the Managing Director of Advanced Peripheral Systems, one of the leading fire and security companies in the UK, has been using FileMaker for 15 years.
He was using FileMaker for the back office, but for the helpdesk and maintenance planning environment, he was using an “off the shelf” graphical application, designed for the service industry. Besides the fact that there was much duplication of data, the separation of the two systems meant there was no coherence between the data. Problems were also being experienced with this “PDA based” application for some time so when Scheduler for FileMaker came along, in addition to an “electronic paper” based technology for the service engineers, he saw it was now possible to bring FileMaker into the service management arena.
“We can also use Scheduler without needing the FileMaker Client on the same machine. We just need the IP address of the FileMaker host. It also means that we don’t need complex FileMaker security layouts created just for the help desk and we can separate the service environment from the back office”, whilst at the same time working with the same data.
“Scheduler is extremely fast and we can run it from a single executable on a shared location on the network. It is also run remotely from our other offices over a WAN, which is extremely useful”.
He commissioned Computech to build this solution, using his many years of experience in the service management industry to ensure it has all the required features, plus many other unique elements. Such was its success; he decided to set up a company (wireless Service Management (WSM)) purely to promote and sell this comprehensive system. Now there are many more companies using the WSM system to great effect.
